Grove City Is A Slice Of Americana: It’s High School Football!

September 2, 2011 by · Leave a Comment

Last week we were thrilled that 10TV included our weekly Matt Jordan Coaches Show in their First and Ten Coverage.  Since then so many of you have sent along some really kind emails thanking us for proudly BRAGGING about our community.

Currently we have Coaches Programs in place and on location for Grove City Hugh School and Grove City Christian.  We would have loved to had one for Central Crossing as well but because we are a new entity, the school wasn’t really sure just what to make of us…TOTALLY UNDERSTANDABLE and we look forward to those opportunities in the future because after all, Central Crossing is part of our community as well!

As if there was any doubt, High School Football is back in FULL SWING. Tonight you’ll be able to spot the glow of stadium lights and hear the cheers of enthusiastic supporters as both Grove City High School and Grove City Christian host their home opener for the 2011-12 season while Central Crossing is on the road.

Grove City Christian Eagles are coming off an absolutely dominating victory over Bellaire St. John where they relied on their young defense and skilled offense to tattoo the Irish with a 61-12 defeat. As always, Coach Kerry Owens was humble about the results and not entirely satisfied with the performance his team put forward but noticed an improvement over any of the teams scrimmages.

Coach Matt Jordan and our Grove City High School DAWGS opened their season with a 28-7 defeat at the hands of Hilliard Davidson, a team many in Central-Ohio call “THE MACHINE”. In talking with Coach Jordan it is obvious that he is incredibly proud of the young men and the community they represent but in no uncertain terms is he satisfied with the results. Undoubtedly he and his entire coaching staff will be preparing all week to get their first W this Friday night when they host Canal Winchester.

Canal Winchester arrives after a hard fought 5 point victory over St Charles.

The Central Crossing Comets look to change their fortunes this Friday after a disappointing 46-10 loss to Columbus Mifflin against a Rayland Buckeye Local team that punished visiting Utica by a score of 33-16. According to Central Crossing head football Coach Chris Harr, it wasn’t one specific thing that derailed the Comets but a “lot of little things”. We have every belief that Coach Harr will be working with his team to recognize and improve those areas that can be fixed.

SPECIAL NOTE

We would love to carry the home games for Grove City High School and Central Crossing High School as well but simply need sponsorships to help us cover our expenses of doing so.
