December 16, 2011 by Grove City Radio · Leave a Comment
Ryan Swartzentruber, a sophomore at Mount Vernon Nazarene University was one of three members of the Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's soccer team named to the Capital One Academic All-District Team. The awards were recently selected and announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Swartzentruber, was the lone goalkeeper selected to the Capital One Academic All-District Team. The former Grove City High School product started 12 matches in goal for MVNU this season and posted a 1.84 goals against average with 46 saves and three shutouts. In the classroom, the middle childhood education major has posted a 3.76 grade point average.
The Capital One Academic All-District candidates are nominated by the sports information directors of their respective schools who are CoSIDA members and then voted on by all the district members. The district that MVNU is in encompasses 15 states along the east coast as well as Washington D.C. To be eligible, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore in their second year of attendance at their current school with a 3.30 grade point average or higher. Capital One Academic All-District First Team honorees are then eligible for consideration for one of the three Capital One Academic All-America Teams.
Ryan is the son of Matt and Krista Swartzentruber who are obviously very proud.
